Bilirubin, excreted in bile is a yellow pigment present in the blood. It is generated during the normal breakdown of red blood cells. However, its levels can shoot due to an obstruction, or inflammation of the liver. The high amounts of bilirubin, results to condition such as jaundice, yellowing of the skin or eyes, fatigue, itchy skin, dark urine, and low appetite.
